Who we are
Picture
Rabbi Zvi L Solomons MA (Cantab.) MPhil

The only Orthodox Rabbi in Berkshire, Rabbi Zvi  was an Archaeologist and a Surveyor in previous incarnations. Graduating from Jews College in 2001 he served at Potters Bar and Liverpool Old Hebrew Congregation (Princes Road) prior to coming to Reading to work for Goldsmid Road. In May 2015, Rabbi Zvi was encouraged by friends to retain his responsibilities in Reading whilst at the same time developing other projects. He has recently written a guide to avoiding family problems around one’s own death, is developing a public speaking business in interfaith and Religious Education, and runs the website.

Rabbi Zvi is married to Shira, and they regularly host Friday night dinners and Shabbat services at their home. They have three children.

Rebbetzin Dr Shira Batya Lewin Solomons

Born in the USA to South African parents, Shira has lived on four continents. She finally settled in Reading with Rabbi Zvi in 2008 and having found a lovely home is not planning on moving any time soon. Rebbetzin Shira enjoys teaching children about Judaism and has resourced and produced some amazing material for use both at home with her own children and with the JCoB Cheder. She has been running Berkshire’s Orthodox Cheder for the last five years, reviving it from the dead. Shira loves traditional Jewish music, her garden and of course her family. She loves lehning the megillah and is passionate about outreach.
