Based in Reading, JCoB Shul is a lively Jewish community, who get together on Friday nights, Shabbat morning and Festivals. We have our own Cheder, run Synagogue services to a high professional level, and benefit from the only Orthodox rabbinic couple in Berkshire. You won't fall asleep in our services and we reckon you'll want to come again!
Jewish life is what we make of it – and we make it great fun, and very sociable. Whether you live in Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Newbury, Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead, Basingstoke, Henley or Ascot, we are here to serve your Jewish needs. What’s more, age is largely in your head, and we have active participants aged 2 to 72! Our regular events are very popular with the younger members of the Jewish community of Berkshire and the area, and we are the only Orthodox community in the County with a living Cheder and ongoing Jewish education. We are happy to see you wherever you are Jewishly, and guarantee a warm welcome to each of our activities, whether you're more comfortable with the gastronomic or the synagogue aspects of being Jewish. Our Rabbi, Zvi Solomons and his Rebbetzin Shira are the only Orthodox Rabbinic couple in Berkshire, and run our Cheder and community from their home in central West Reading as well as touring local schools to teach children about Judaism. Try us out for size - we reckon you'll love what we have to offer. We operate synagogue services for our friends in Reading, Wokingham, Slough, Henley, Bracknell and Basingstoke and the Berkshire region, over Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, and you can catch your favourite synagogue or table tunes with us on Shabbat or Festivals. To support our voluntary work for the community, we also have a separate commercial operation, JCoB Education, which provides workshops and assemblies on Judaism at schools throughout the region.
