High Holy Days ימים נוראיםRosh Hashanah / Yom Kippur
Experience the warmth, music and ruach (atmosphere) of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services at JCoB. The services will be musical and intellectually stimulating, the shofar (at the end of Neilah) is the best blast for miles. There are explanations to make sure you are up with what is happening, and the community is welcoming and friendly. Everyone is welcome. To let us know you wish to attend, please contact us.
Succot
We have the largest Succah in Berkshire and it is always a hub of activity. Evening and morning services will take place on yom tov and Shabbat evenings and mornings, followed by dinner and/or lunch in the Succah. To book a meal or order your lulav, please contact us.
Saturday Morning
Shabbat morning services have now resumed at JCoB. We are a community that love to daven together and sing together, and everyone is included, whether men, women, or children. Services are in the garden in summer (which is glorious), in our marquee in the autumn, and indoors through the winter months.
Children's Events
In addition to our weekly cheder, we have children's parties for Succot, Chanukah and Purim and other festivals. Specific dates are not usually published here, so to keep informed, please email us! |
Friday Night Oneg Shabbat Experience the wonderful Shabbat atmosphere of a Shabbat evening at the Rabbi's house. Rebbetzin Shira's famous challah, chicken, vegetarian food and other tasties.
Seudah Shlishit / Havdallah
JCoB invites you to join us for a special Shabbat afternoon of songs, stories (and a little bit of food) followed by Havdallah. Bring your own song or story to share or just come, listen, and enjoy.
Cheder
Every Sunday during term time. We use the latest materials to teach Hebrew Reading, Festivals, Ethics and Prayer, catering to children from toddlers to teens. Our cheder is great fun – intellectually stimulating and socially buzzing.
Children's Services
At JCoB, Children's Services are not special events, they are an intrinsic part of shul life. We include children in our services so that they feel welcomed and involved, often using their knowledge from cheder to teach their parents how to join in. We also hold separate children's services to enhance the children's experience and keep them engaged and excited about coming to shul. We also have a family shacharit service every Sunday morning before cheder (pictured). |
