Rabbi Zvi is a great story teller!  The assembly was wonderful and the message from the story was one all the children could relate to. Our KS2 children really enjoyed the stories he told in the workshops and we felt they learnt a lot from meeting Rabbi Zvi.  (Wendy Soar, RE subject leader)

The Rabbi engaged the children with his knowledge. The children enjoyed having things to look at and wear. This made the session very hands-on. The children most certainly learnt a lot about Judaism.   (Leanne Harris, HeadTeacher)

The abundance of knowledge the Rabbi shared with the children at an appropriate level of learning was great, sharing jokes and interacting well with them. He also made good links with other religions that helped our multi-cultural catchment, as well as the British Values we hold here. The children also really enjoyed the prayer shawls, kippurs and the range of resources used.  (Kathryn Barnes, class teacher)

Rabbi Zvi provided a wonderful introduction to Judaism especially as we do not have any Jewish children in our school. His story telling skills captivated the children and staff and children all learnt such a lot. I really appreciated his respectful attitude towards other religions. (Brenda Rolfe, class teacher)

Rabbi Zvi kept the children very engaged. They remembered much information even after the half term break. We liked how he talked to the children of different faiths and made them proud of their religion and beliefs. This fitted very well with our work on anti-bullying which had the theme :All Different All Equal. (Rosalind Somerville, RE coordinator)

The students had a really good time and I was amazed how much of the information they had taken in when I had a lesson with them the next day. They enjoyed the stories and most of all enjoyed the practical involvement.

Just before half-term, Year 8 and 7 students had the opportunity to listen to a talk given by Rabbi Zvi Solomons from the Jewish Community of Berkshire.

The Rabbi invited students into his ‘mock’ Synagogue and, in accordance to Jewish tradition, sat the boys (all wearing yamulke skull caps) and girls on different sides.

Rabbi Zvi explored the many comparisons between Jewish culture and other ways of life, culminating in him telling the story of Purim. Purim is a festival that has many similarities with Christmas – families get together, a feast is devoured, the adults dress up in interesting outfits and are permitted to enjoy a drink or two!

It was a pleasure to welcome Rabbi Zvi and we look forward to seeing him again.

I just wanted to thank you for the two fantastic sessions on Shabbat and Passover that you led at my school.  The children were really interested and enjoyed taking part in the meals – tasting the food and drink.  It was a real success and it was really great the way that you welcomed them to your dining table – they were hooked straight away!   Lots of lovely stories told too.

We absolutely loved having Rabbi Zvi for the morning. I certainly learnt a lot, as did the children. I was very taken with the analogy of unleavened bread as this is very much part of the school’s ethos, about being humble and not being puffed up with pride.    -- Andrew Rex, Head of RE

Thank you so much for coming to our school last Wednesday and delivering such interesting workshops to our children. It really was a very special day which everyone enjoyed very much indeed. Having spoken to the children after the event, they all spoke positively about how interesting it was to learn from you. They really enjoyed hearing your stories and the way you used the items you had brought with you to bring discussions to life. The staff also enjoyed meeting you as did our Foundation Governor who had only expected to pop into one session but in fact ended up staying all day as she found the sessions so interesting. She has since emailed me to say just how much she enjoyed the day.

I am also delighted that you enjoyed your day with us. Thank you so much for the kind and positive comments you sent in your email. We have worked so hard on developing our approach to RE and ensuring our school is a welcoming place where everyone is valued so t is lovely to hear that, as a visitor to Holy Trinity, you sensed it. I plan to share your comments with the children who I know will feel very proud that they made you feel so welcome.

I do hope very much that our paths cross again in the future but for now, thank you again for making Wednesday such a special experience which we will remember for a long time to come.

Rabbi Zvi visited our school for a morning and we couldn't be more delighted in the workshops that he led our children in. Prior to the visit we had excellent contact with regards to the type of session that would fit best with our school as well as help with timetabling the event. We took part in the Succot, Synagogue and Shabbat workshops and all of these provided children with the opportunity to gain a broader understanding of these aspects of Judaism but they were also able to see the objects that are used as part of these. Within the Shabbat workshop, the subject was brought to life by the use of the chalot and Rabbi Zvi's very engaging teaching style. He was able to work with whole age range of children and we are hoping to see him again soon.
