Purim got off to a swinging start at JCoB with some 20 adults and children, some in fancy dress, enjoying the megillah reading and the food afterwards. More fun on Purim day from 16:45 at JCoB Central, where there will be a megillah reading and a meal with plenty of drink (and food).
Rabbi Zvi Solomons of the Jewish community of Berkshire attended the 90th anniversary University Court of the University of Reading this week. The event was attended by hundreds of alumnae and students of the University. Reading is one of the top 100 univities in the world and is particularly renowned for its research into agriculture, meterology, cybernetics and land management. Rabbi Solomons is both the only Orhodox rabbi in Berkshire and an alumnus of the Department of Land Management at the University. “I loved my time at Reading, where I was President of the Jewish Society and active with the local Jewish community. Today, as the Jewish student chaplain to the university and the local Orthodox Rabbi I am always happy to welcome Jewish students to my home and support a rich Jewish student life in my home town.”
